Pontiac Repair: 1998 Grand Am Manual Windows, manual windows, side windows

Question
I have a 98 grand am with Manual crank windows. Both my Front Driver's side window and passenger side windows do not operate. When I turn the crank to roll down the window the window moves just a tiny bit then stops as i continue to crank the knob around and around but it just keeps cranking with the window not moving. What is the problem? Several people have told me its the regulator but that doesnt seem logical to me. Are the cranks just stripped?

If the cranks have not been checked yet, I would remove them and see if they are stripped out.
If so, that MAY be your problem, but I can tell you this set up is prone to the regulators failing and causing the EXACT same symptom(s) you are having.
