Pontiac Repair: Fan and gauge, blower motor resistor, coolant level

Question
2001 Pontiac Montana
My temp gauge does not move unless I run the AC around town.
It never reads hot but the engine smells hot.I Changed the temp sensor by the thermostat. Also the electric fan never seems to be working but I am not sure if that has something to do with the temp. gauge not registering correctly. I am pretty sure that the van is hotter than it registers. Oh and heat and AC both work but the heat/AC fan does not have much blowing force after replacing the condenser.
My best regards and thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi
I would check the coolant level.
It sounds like you MAY have a low coolant condition.
After cools down (overnight) check the coolant level IN THE RADIATOR.
Add water until full.
It COULD have an air pocket.
If it is full I would consider having the cooling system checked and flushed.
The the thermostat.
As far as the blower I would suggest the Blower Motor Resistor may be at fault.
It is located in the area of the blower motor, under the dash on the passenger side.
I Do hope all this helps.
Please follow back if needed.
Good Luck
