Pontiac Repair: 2000 sunfire electrical, blower motor resistor, pontiac sunfire

Question
2000 Pontiac Sunfire L4 2.4 Liter
Two issues, no idea if they are related.
1) My lower two fan settings do not work

2) My radio display does not light up but you can see it dimly

In both cases they have gotten progressively worse.  The lowest fan setting went out about 4 years ago, and then the next one this year.

Similar issues with the radio, half of the display went dim a couple years ago, now all of it is dim.

Thank You.

Answer
Hi
Sounds like the blower motor Resistor is faulty for your blower motor.
It is located RIGHT next to blower motor, passenger side.
It has (looks like) 5 wires going into it, held on by 2 small screws.
As far as radio I have seen this before and the ONLY fix I have run across has been replacement of the radio assy.
You COULD get an aftermarket radio, or you could find one in a salvage yard.
You also could remove yours, take it to your local dealership and have them send it out for repair/exchange.
That AVERAGES cost of about $300.00 PARTS ONLY.
I Hope this helps.
Please follw post back if more assistance is needed.
Good Luck
