Pontiac Repair: Coolant light on, pontiac grad prix, radiator tank

Question
I have a 2002 Pontiac Grad Prix SE my low coolant light has been on for 2 weeks. i keep checking the coolant in the overflow and radiator and they are full. i had the radiator changed 6 months ago and have not had to add any since. could this be the coolant sensor? and where are they located? thanks

Answer
Hi
Really sounds like the coolant level sensor mounted on the radiator is at fault.
not knowing the exact reason you replaced radiator the sensor can get red rusty colored "gunk" on the sensor and short it out.
The sensor is mounted on the PASSANGER side radiator tank  about a third of the way down the radiator, and it faces the engine.
Fairly common problem.
I Hope this helps.
Just advice from experience.
Good luck
