Pontiac Repair: 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, pontiac grand prix, fuse box

Question
When I put the key in my car last night and tried to start the car everything died, lights, and all. The key wouldn't come out either. Now when you turn the key forward to start the car nothing happens. The anti-theft light is still blinking and the parking light on the dash that identifies the gear you are in blinks other than that nothing. The car will not even turn over.

Answer
Hi
First thing I would do would be to check the battery and battery connections.
I am really thinking this is your problem.
If not I would then check the connection for the Battery positive stud on the fuse box under the hood. Wiggle it. Wiggle the whole box also, they have known issues for faulty internal connections.

If you get power back into the car, and you still have problems with the key, try this....

If all this checks OK, the next item would be the shifter assy.
It has the Shift solonoid and gives power to the Park lock actuator(key releaser) for key removal.

I Hope all this is some kind of help.
Just advice from experience.
Good Luck
