Pontiac Repair: AC problem, compressor clutch, ac compressor

1997 3.8 grand prix se   My ac will not turn on seems to be an electrical problem as when you hit the button nothing happens, usually there was a noticable drop in rpm due to the load of the ac.. any idea if i just may need to replace a relay or fuse or something.

The A/C needs freon pressure to kick on.
I would suspect low freon charge first. Thats first.
After that make sure you have power going to the AC compressor clutch.
If not check fuses.
If getting power to clutch, and freon charge is OK, I would suspect the compressor.
JUST advice from experience.
