QuestionQUESTION: 96 Pontiac Sunfire cooling fan not coming on when the car get hot the temputure gage goes high. I had the coolant spenor replaced didnt help. We had man to put a relay on it but still fan wouldnt come on. We removed the relay and used a paper clip to see if it would work AND THE FAN DID come on...you think it could be a bad wire ?? Its my daughters first car and she had it about 3 months now its been wreck and fixed back it has 67,000 Miles Only!! Please help if any ideas I cant afford to spend alot on car. THANK YOU SO MUCH
ANSWER: we;ll the relay must have a power wire, a grouind wire and a trigger wire to operate , the trigger wire usually comes from the sending unit or the ecm to trigger the fan, the power wire from ther fuse box, the ground is just a ground and the other wire goes to the fan i sus[pect there may be two sensors for that car that do the temp sending 1 for the computers and fan , 1 for the light or the guage

QUESTION: ok another man is checking it but the cooling fan isn't coming on until car reaches 215-225 degrees he said. He let the car run 1 hr. and 1/2 then finally the fan came on. Does that sound right about the temp. degrees? I'm afraid to drive it scared it will over heat and steam from the radiator.
ANSWER: well you have to understand thet the thermostadt wont open to circulate the water till at least 190 degrees, so 215-225 doesnt sound bad is that in the middle area of your guage? your guage goes to 250? as long as it stays in the normal area that will ne fine but change the thermostad anyway

QUESTION: It's above the middle of guage like 3/4 of the way. Looks to high to me. Guage goes to 260 before that its yellow, then Red and 260. It gets up near the yellow past the middle of guage. So, I got the thermostat and getting it put on Monday evening I hope that will make it run cooler. the water light has came on about 2 times blinks and goes off in just a bit. We added water to coolant So I hope you understand what Im explaining.....A Christian man is suppose to check it for me .......what cha think??? STILL the Thermostat? will that help make her air conditioner to work too? (New Thermostat)we charged it ...didn't work... THANKS,
Answerare you sure the incar guage is right? and the temp is not that hot? does it loose water or boil over? have the cooling system checked with a prsure tester for leak down and flush the radiatyor and cooling system. is the fan turning very very fast or does it seem slow.?
is the fins of the a/c cond and radiator free from dirt bugs and free flowing of air? the longer it runs does it keep getting hotter and hotter if so your rad maybe partially blocked? is rthere any exteranl leaks?like wateerpump
