my 85 pontiac fiero gt 2.8L has atleast 1/4 to 1/2 inch of sludge . and i was wondering how the hell to clean the mess inside.

I personally know of nothing that works any better than "over the counter" oil additives.
Read the  instructions, and determine which one looks as if it may work better. Ask the parts consultant. Maybe have them ask some local mechanics. As you probabally have, reasearch more on the net. I have used one I cannot remember the name to clean oil/water mixture that was  vandalized, and it worked OK, I just had to use it multiple times. I would think the same will be true for your situation, you may have to use it over a matter of a few oil changes to really break it down and off the surfaces.
