Pontiac Repair: Car will not start, theft deterrent system, pontiac firebird

Question
I have a '96 Pontiac firebird v6 and a fairly new battery.  With no previous warnings, it now will not start.  The lights come on and I have plenty of juice to the radio and dashboard.  Up until now it has started fine.  There's never been any problem with it going into park and I jiggled the wheel.  A friend suggested it might be a switch problem or maybe even a bad starter.  Though, he said it wouldn't just not start without any kind of warning the starter was going bad.  There isn't any hint of it turning over and the key doesn't get stuck in the ignition at all.  Everything else has been working fine and still is as far as I know.  I got out and checked for any leaks and didn't see or smell anything.  I know next to nothing about cars other than maybe a few common sense ideas.  So I don't know if fuses would even be an issue here.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi
I would suspect the starter.
Starters are electro-mechanical devices and they need no warning to go out.
I would, though check the "Security" light on dash and make sure it goes off in key on position, just to make sure your Theft Deterrent System is OK.
Just advice from experience.
Hope this helps
Good Luck
