Pontiac Repair: 97 Grand Prix GT Clicking Noise Under Dash, grand prix gt, headlight switch

Question
I've got a 97 Grand Prix GT (106,000 miles) that out of the blue recently developed a profound clicking noise under the dash.  Problem was traced to two connectors and a silver slim box (you could "feel" the click; just conldn't figure out which part was clicking).  Anyway, when the clicking occurs, the daytime running lamps flash, the driver info console lights do not come on and the AC blower does not work unless it is set on max.  The clicking noise goes out if you switch the headlight switch to park of full headlights.  I suppose we can continue to drive the car and kill the clicking noise just by switching the headlight switch position, but the noise is really bothersome, sometimes occurs without warning and could be the start of a bigger problem.  Any suggestions?  Joe
