Pontiac Repair: sunroof, grand prix gtp, screw driver

Question
My sunroof on a 99 Grand Prix GTP would not close anymore.  The dealership wants $2000 to replace it because apparently there is no manual way to close this.  I received an advice that I can close the sunroof by removing the motor first then manually rotating the mechanism that turns the motor.  Is this true?  What tools do I need to remove the motor and how complicated is it?  I do not have a mechanic background.

Answer
WELL IS THE MOOTR BAD?
OR THE TRACKING?  YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE SUNVISORS, AND TAKE THE HEADLINER DOWN AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THE LIL ELCRTIC MOTOR IS HELD BY TWO BOLTS  . UNDO THEM  REMOVE THE MOTOR AND STICLK A LARGE SCREW DRIVER IN THE OPEING AND TURN THE GEAR UNTIL IT CLOSES... NOW BEFORE YOU ATTEMT THAT.. DOES THE SUNROOF EVEN MOVE? DOES THE MOTOR TUIRN AT ALL? IF SO IT IS A TRACKING PROBLEM AND REMOVING THE MOTOR WILL PROB NOT DO YOU ANY GOOD, YOU WILL HAVE TO GET THE TRACKING FIXXED FIRST MAYBE GO TO A BODY SHOP AND GET THEIR ADVICE ON THE TARCKING
