Pontiac Repair: 98 grand prix window problems, windows work, window button

Question
QUESTION: driver side electric window doesn't work (it's 1/2 way down currently) - passenger side front does, and both back windows work. Is there a way to manually pull up the window before it get it fixed - or easy way to change/replace? Thanks!

ANSWER: the problem with that is the cable type window regulator inside the door,, you prob hear a crunching sound,, what you can do is get a helper and have them move the window up while you push the electric window button up , you mioght have to go up and then down back and forth a few time while they pull the windo up and down according to your button movement.. if you get it up place or tape something over uit to keep it from being accidently put down.the window regulator cable ass embly needs to be replace, you can get a used one from a junk yard or a new one from gm

QUESTION: but what if there is no sound... nothing... it will go down once about every 10-15 times. I was trying to get it to work last night (reason it's 1/2 way down), but won't go up. Also tried to pull it up, but it wouldn't budge.

Answer
ok well what ususally happens is that the cbla e gets bound up and wont let the motor move, but do nthis take your door panel off and using a test light chek the power and neg to the motor, and see if you have both sides of power and negative, if you do proceed with removing the moro and inspect the track and cable aseembly
