Pontiac Repair: starter, chevy engine, battery cables

Question
I replaced my starter twice in about 3 months, I just put a new starter on and it started once and then nothing after I stopped the engine and tried to start it again.  Not even a click. When I jump start the car it will stay starter and ride around  but when i turn it off.  It will not start again.  No click or sound, nothing.  What could be wrong?  This is a 1979 firebird with a 350 chevy engine long block. Thanks for any respond.

Answer
Hi
I think you may have a different problem.
I would check the battery cables, cable ends, have the battery checked (load tested).
Check all connections at battery and at starter.
Thats what I would think.
Do the dash lights come on before cranking?
If so I doubt an ignition switch problem. (ALTHOUGH IT COULD BE) I doubt it.
It really sounds like you have a connection problem to me.
I Hope this helps.
Just advise from experience.
Good Luck
Paul
