Pontiac Repair: harmonic balancer wont come off, keyway, timing chain

hi there i have a 1990 grand prix(3.1) i think my timing chain is broke(because it wont start and it is turning over really fast)my ? is is there a trick to getting the harmonic balancer off? i took the middle bolt out and put the puller on there and titened until it would not go any more.and it still would no come off,am i doing something wrong?

Pull the valve cover off first and see if your cams are moving or just look through the oil fill hole.

There is a keyway in there too. If you take the key out you might be able to turn it and get it loose that way.

I would buy a service manual, its only $20 and you are going to need it.
