Pontiac Repair: 2001 Grand Am Power Steering Problem, grand am power, power steering fluid

Question
I have a 2001 Grand Am. It has been working great but this morning when I started it up - NO POWER STEERING!
I made sure the power steering fluid was at the correct level, but still no power steering.
I can see some fluid dripping from underneath where it has never leaked anything before.
What might the problem be?

Answer
Sounds like you have a blown seal in the rack and pinion unit. The fluid just hasn't all leaked out of it yet but it can't hold pressure any more. If this is the case it can be rebuilt or you can have a remanufactured unit installed which will be faster and probably cheaper in the long run.
