my van has stalled a few times after coming to a stop and putting it in park, you can also smell the exhaust. any suggestions as to what may be causing this, it runs great, but i know it shouldn't be stalling, and i shouldn't be able to smell the exhaust.

There's a lot of things that can be causing the stalling both little and big. A couple of things to check on are the fuel filter may be plugged up, the Idle Air Control solenoid may be going bad, or may even be as simple as a plugged air filter or passage (could be mice getting in it!). As far as smelling exhaust it is 7 years old and even though the system is stainless steel, they don't last forever and you might be developing a hole in it after the muffler which would be why you don't hear it.
