Pontiac Repair: 99 grand am brake system, rear brakes, caliper

Question
We are replacing the brake pads, rotors, and caliper on my 99 grand am. My son cannot get the brake pad to stay on the caliper. Does he need a special tool to get it in properly? What does he need to do to get it to stay in? Thank you for your assistance...

Answer
For your car there isn't any specialty tools need to replace the front or rear brakes. The pads sit in the caliper bracket and are held in place between the bracket and caliper. The best way to replace them if you aren't sure how they go and noone experienced is around to help is to do one side at a time so you can look at the other side for reference. Hope this is helpful and good luck.
