Pontiac Repair: 1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra problem unknown, buick park avenue, coolant leaks

Question
I have a 1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra that has been showing low coolant level for several months.
I have been adding coolant and have checked for leaks all along and have found no leaks.  Suddenly the engine began losing power and pausing, it runs fairly smoothly at idle.  I first thought of a broken head gasket, but there is no steam coming from the tail pipe and no moisture there.  I'm puzzled.  Please help me.

Thank you,

Kenneth

Answer
Hi,Kenneth

These engines are notorious intake leakers,i would check the intake mainfold gaskets for coolant leaks, also pull the oil dipstick and check for coolant on it,the intake gaskets tend to leak either into the engine oil or through the intake ports of the engine.if the intake is leaking, have the seals replace as soon as possible, coolant in the oil can cause excessive damage to the engine bearings.
