Pontiac Repair: Engine Light, exit ramp, pontiac grand am

Hi Ed,

I recently purchased this 1995 Pontiac Grand Am, which has 220000 kms on it. Everything is fine with it, except the engine light. Indeed, when I drive on the highway, the vehicle will not exceed 130 km/h and when I slow down to take an exit ramp, the engine light comes on. There are no noises from neither the engine nor the tranny. When I shut the engine and re-start it, the engine light disappears. The engine light does not come on when I drive the vehicle in 50km/h areas. Can you please help me? Could it be the tranny, already?

 It could be a few things the problem is i would need the codes to further diagnose,have someone read the codes and write them down,i believe you can have the codes read by an auto parts store,they have a code reader,or you can have an auto service place do this for you,let me know the codes and i can give you an idea of what is going on with your Grand Am.
