Pontiac Repair: slow accleration and pickup, accleration, pontiac grand am

Question
Dear Wayne, I have a  1993 Pontiac Grand AM, in pretty good shape, about 61000 mileage. About a week ago I started having a problem with the car's acceleration.
When I get in my car it starts fine, but it takes at least a block's drive to get it up to 30 mph. Some guy I know checked the transmission and he doesn't think that is the problem but he is not an expert. Can you give me some advice on what could be causing this slow pickup and what I can do to repair this?
Thanks and much appreciation, Joe

Answer
Hi, have the catalytic converter checked it be could clogged up, also check the fuel filter, worn spark plugs can cause this. When you are driving is the RPM hight and not going any where. if so it could be the transmission. what it is doing is slipping.
