Pontiac Repair: Vapor lock, tomb of the unknown soldier, disability check

Question
--Appreciate your help. Will try what you said. Want to mention what happened today. I drove car until hot and it cut off but throwed an error code. I put my x ray scanner on it and it came up map sensor. This made sense as a friend of mine's car cut off the same way, in fact the newer Ford Explorer did the same. The scanner picked it up and he replaced the sensor and no more problems. I bought the map sensor and put it on at the parts store. Thought that was it. As soon as I hit the highway the car lost power but no lights came on until I shifted into neutral. It was 30 miles from the parts house. The further I went the more the car just slowly lost power and coasted to a stop. After about 4 times trying to restart each time it would start up and go a few more miles. No error codes showed on scanner. I like a challange but on a small disability check from the VA I am going to the poor house on this car. I think next time Kia has the special on its cheapest model I will ask him to get one. He drives too far to work for the risk. I hate to lose $600 worth of tires and wheels I had put on for him as he ran may pops but With the mental problems it starts to drive me further into depression. On top of this I just put new disc pads on my 91 aerostar and the caliper must be bad on the drivers side as it is dragging and leaving heavy dust deposits so I am caught up in more expense but he has to drive it to work. Mr Bush needs to keep the flowers he puts on the tomb of the unknown soldier and all that money he gives to foreigners so he can show true appreciation to Veterans by giving us better benifits, money for hospitals and clinics that are far over crowded and medical delayed. full free treatment for all veterans. We have to pay and all the medicine I'm on takes half my check. I can't even get my hearing or teeth fixed.  Enough of my love for bodybag Bush. Thanks and sorry if you are a Bush supporter. -----------------------

--the car is hard to troubleshoot as it only fails in very hot weather. There are also relays , a computer control for that relay, and agas and oil pressure switch. I switched relays around with another with the same number. I'm going to pull the fuel pump and do this one last thing. That is about all that is left. I know it uis firing as I tested it with a hand held occiloscope. SORRY FOR SPELLING. hAVE BRAIN DAMAGE FROM RADIATION IN TREATMENT OF LYMPHOMA TO THE HEAD. Next step after fuel pump is to get rid of the car. I had to go get it as it went oput on my son today. Took gas line loose and no fuel until vehicle turned over several times. I've spent a fortune on this car that was fine until a local guy overhauled it. My son put out a fortune on it himslf. Mechanic that overhauled it kept money but said he couldn't fix it. You can't trust anyone. Took it to a dealer and he kept it a week and charged $600 more and would not say what was found. I believe it just started running okay as it does at times and they stuck it to us. It went right back to the same deal.Is the power train module the same as the ecm. Manuals never give enough detail. Our "91 Aerostar needs an interval wiper governor but manuals don't say where it is.Being disable this stuff eats me up. Looks like the could make a decent manual. Appreciate your help but fan wire not the problem. Wondered if fan had a delay timer to allow it to run after hot for a few minutes if this would help. Hate to pull gas tank to get to fuel pump but will for my son's safety.---------------------

My son has a 1987 2.5 Pontiac Grand Am. It runs fine until hot weather. After it is parked and sits a while it won't restart until at least 30 minutes later. Everything is new in the electrical ciruitry and sensors. It has throttle body fuel injection. It never did this until it was overhauled. The guy shorted the electric fan wires and I wired the fan to run all the time the switch is on. If you have the circuit I would rewire to original. Chilton's not detailed enough. Engine temperature stays a couple notches abovel cold. I also replaced ECM and it has a new Prom. I am a disable vet and my son looks after me and drives a long way to work. I don't like him stranded. Thanks, Terry Crowe, already get the  newsletter.

Hi, what do you have the fan conected to so it will run?
Answer -
Reconected this wire to the fuse box. the wire you is conected to maybe getting the fuel pump hot where it want come on until it cools down.
Answer -
I know it's a pain when you try every thing and it still don't work. lets try this before you change the fuel pump, check the vent line on the tank it could be clogged up and not letting the vapors off, when the heat builds up in the tank. If i was close by you. I would try  help you find the problem.

Answer
Terry have you checked the catalytic converter, this will cause the car to stall.
