Pontiac Repair: Gauges, HVAC, ABS, pontiac dealer, abs sensor

Question
Hi.  I have a 1999 Grand AM 2.4.  I have several questions.  1. Is it normal for the gauges to jump from left to right then back to left when the car is started?  2. 1,2 on my blower do not work, but 3,4,5 do.  Is this a problem with the HVAC controls on the dash, or the blower? 3. I took my car into my local Pontiac dealer because my "ABS", and "Trac Off" ligths will not shut off.  I was told that the ABS sensor and the bearings on the front passenger side needed to be replaced.  They quoted me $800 to fix it.  I just went and bought the part myself from Car Quest ($100).  I know this is easy to install, but once it is installed, will those lights got off or will I need to clear the codes myself? And if so, how do I clear them without taking it to the dealer?

Answer
Hi, no it's not normal for the gauges to pump, this could be form the other problem you are having, on the blower check the motor and see if you are getting any power on the low speed, if there is power then it would the motor. On the ABS light it should go off, but if it don't unplug the wier at the pos. battery cable for 10sce to clear the code
