Pontiac Repair: fuel pump or what?, gas tank, fuel pump

Question
I have a 2000 Grand Prix with 3800 supercharged motor. Was sitting at a stop light running fine
then "burp-sput blagh" dead.I tried to start it and it started after about a mere second died again.Could this be the fuel pump or a relay or what?Is there a way a doit yourselfer can fix it or not.Where is the pump located?

Answer
Hi, yes this could be the fuel pump, turn the key on and listen for a whirring noise coming from the fuel tank. The fuel pump is in the gas tank. If you don't hear the noise then it would be the fuel pump, If you do hear the noise, then it would be in the firing, Yes a doit yourselfer can fix it, I would get a book on the this car before I try to fix it.
