Pontiac Repair: Leak, pan gasket, costly problem

Question
Hello Wayne.  I've got a 94 Bonneville. After sitting idle for about 3 - 4 months, I've noticed what looks like a large puddle on fluid underneath the engine after startup. It appears to be transmission fluid. Is this a major (i.e., costly) problem? It is near the front of the engine.

Answer
Hi, the cost will depend on where the leak is comeing from.
If it's the front pump seal that is leaking, this one will cost the most. Because the transmission will have to come out to fix it. A pan gasket will cost around 35 to 40 bucks.
The driveaxle seal will cost around 100.00 for both. It could be a rubber hose that is connected to the transmission line at the radiator. clean the transmission up good this will help in pinpoint the leak.
