Pontiac Repair: PONTIAC BONNEVILLE, pontiac bonneville, wet spots

I WAS ASKED TO HELP A FRIEND WITH HER 1991 BONNEVILLE SSE. I AM VERY GOOD WITH CARS BUT HAVE NEVER WORKED ON THIS MAKE BEFORE. THE PROBLEM IS LOSS OF FUEL AND STRONG ODER OF GAS. MY FIRST AND SECOND THOUGHT WAS FEUL TANK AND FUEL LINE. I AM WONDERING IF THERE ARE ANY COMMON PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR, OR DO YOU HAVE ANY TROUBLE SHOOTING TIPS THAT MAY HELP ME.

Hi, check the tank for wet spots, if there is no wet spots then it's not the tank, to check the lines trun the key on do not start the engine. look for leak under the hood frist if this is ok. then look under the body. this could be a conection at the fuel filter, or the conection at the tank.
