Pontiac Repair: Pontiac Grand AM brakes, power steering pump, emery cloth

Question
I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand AM SE 4 Cyl, that has a problem with the brakes. The front brakes feel like they are grinding when using them, yet the rotors and pads were replaced a few months ago and are in great shape. The power steering pump is now making a whining sound (not vey loud), and the steering is a bit stiffer. This morning, the ABS light came on when I stepped on the brakes. Is the power steering pump used to help in the brake system (ABS) ? I re-checked the pads & rotors, as well as the rear drums and pads, and all of them are in great shape.  I had heard from a mechanic friend, that the power steering pump could be my problem.

Answer
Hi no the power steering pump don't have any thing to do with the ABS. what the power steering will do is when you trun and apply the brake it will make it harded to trun.
On the brake check for a glaze on the drum. If there any galze take a pice of sandpapre or emery cloth use in a swirling motion to knot the glaze of. this will help on the grinding sound.
