Pontiac Repair: Changing inner tie rod on 1995 Pontiac Transport, inner tie rod, pontiac transport

Question
I want to change the passenger side inner tie rod on my 1995 Pontiac Transport.I can rent the tool for changing it at Auto Zone but how do I hold the rack and pinion with a wrench while trying to unscrew the inner tierod.Where the inner tierod meets at the rack there is a boot but its back in a tunnel and I'm wondering how you get a wrench back there to hold the rack in place.Would turning the wheel to the left expose the rack more so I then could get a wrench on the rack.I'm afraid if I try to loosen the inner tierod without holding the rack in place,I might damage it.Thanks Bob

Answer
Hi, did you looses the jum nut? if you did'nt then you can take a pipe wrench to hold it from truning. If you did not looseing the jum nut, leave the tie rod  conected to the steering knuckle. then you can loosing the jum nut, and the tie rod should unscrew off.
