Pontiac Repair: FUEL DELIVERY, pontiac firebird, intermittent loss

Question
1988 PONTIAC FIREBIRD, has intermittent loss of power, cutting out similiar to running out of gas when climbing hill, then when off turns over but won't fire, again like out of gas, new battery, alternator, water pump, fuel filter. Sound like the relay to the fuel pump? help!

Answer
Hi, have you checked to see if there is fire at the plugs when it wont start? If ther is no fire at the plugs then this would be the ignition module. Are the plugs and wires good? Can you hear the fuel pump come on when you trun the key on? check the fuel presure. If the pressure is low it could be the fuel pump.

Cristy, I did not like the answer i give you.
When it wont fire, trun the key on and listen for the fuel pump to come on. you can hear the fuel pump come on at the fuel tank there will be a whirring sound it will lasting for a couple of seconds. If the pump comes on then you to check for fire at the plugs. if there is no fire then the ignition module is bad.
