Pontiac Repair: crank sensor, crankshaft position sensor, crankcase ventilation


Question
how do you remove the crank sensor on a 93 pontiac sunbird 2.0 engine


Answer
Remove or Disconnect

1 Raise vehicle.
2 CKP sensor bolt and sensor from engine.
3 Lower power steering bracket nuts (2).
4 Lower vehicle.
5 Serpentine belt.
6 Generator from mount and set aside (4 bolts, 2 nuts) including:
    Removing hinge and crankcase ventilation tube.
7 Upper power steering brace (3 bolts).
8 Remaining lower bracket bolts (2) and set power steering pump assembly
Aside.
9 Timing belt cover (4 bolts, 1 nut).
10 Disconnect crankshaft position sensor harness behind engine and cut tie strap.
11 Feed harness behind timing plate and remove harness and CKP sensor.

Install or Connect
 
1 Raise vehicle.
2 Install new CKP sensor in engine (1 bolt) and feed harness through A/C   
 compressor mount.
3 Lower vehicle.
4 Feed harness behind timing plate.
5 Connect harness at rear of engine and install tie strap.
6 Install timing cover (4 bolts, 2 nuts).
7 Install top bolts (2) for lower power steering bracket.
8 Install generator (4 bolts, 2 nuts) including hinge and crankcase  ventilation tube.
9 Raise vehicle.
10 Install lower power steering bracket nuts (2).
11 Lower vehicle.
12 Install serpentine belt.
13 Sensor to engine harness.
14 Negative battery cables.
