Pontiac Repair: 99 grand am trans., gm service, valve body

Question
My daughter has a '99 Grand Am with a 3.4 engine. Sometimes when you start off it acts like the trans. is slipping. I have had it in two different shops but they can't get it to act up. I don't know if it is a trans. problem or maybe a computer problem or whatever. BTW I have not had it at a GM shop. Thanks

Answer
You may have a valve body problem, like a sticking valve. Or a intermittent pressure problem. It would be nice to know if there are any codes set. If the fluid level and condition were ok, I would suspect an electrical or pressure problem. My best advice is to have your local GM service center perform the diagnostics. Alternatively, a competent transmission specialty shop. If you do, I would like to hear their diagnosis.
