Pontiac Repair: 94 grand am serpentine belt, serpentine belt, aluminum pan

Question
do I need to remove the right motor mount to remove?,  I hear a very loud squeeling under the hood,  sounds like a dry bearing.  Drove to work fine,  then when it was time to go home,  start the car,  instant loud squeeling and the belt was ripped longways about 6 inches.  all your help is greatly appreciated,  since i am going to tear it down myself.

Answer
You didn't tell me what engine you have in your Grand Am but since you are asking about the mount....
Yes you do need to remove the mount. You will have to support the engine to remove the mount. You can use a floor jack with a piece of wood on it under the oil pan, but be careful not to crack the aluminum pan. Raise the jack until the wood just touches the pan, then remove the mount.
Check all of the belt driven accessories for binding or looseness. Most likely it will be the belt tensioner.
