Pontiac Repair: engine stalls out, pontiac sunbird, 1990 pontiac sunbird

Question
Hi, I have a 1990 Pontiac Sunbird 4cyl with a turbo, which runs fine and then stalls out sometimes when you stop or start to slow down. If you put it into neutral it's okay. Is this something I can fix or will I have to bring it in to the shop.  Is it going to cost a lot

thanks,
mike

Answer
It sounds like it might have a bad IAC(idle air control) valve. Its hard to say for sure without driving it. Your best bet would be to take it into the shop to have it diagnosed.
About the cost, its hard to say. An IAC is inexpensive but there are other things that could cause it that are expensive. Get it diagnosed first. They will let you know how much it will cost to repair it before they do anything to it.
