Pontiac Repair: Trunk latch/lock cable replacement, pontiac dealer, key cylinder

Question
92 Grand Prix, 3.1  How can I remove and replace a broken trunk lock/latch cable - Pontiac dealer part # 10282706 - Cable ASM.

The key cylinder and locking mechanism is O.K., however, the cable may be broken since turning the key does not result in any pull on the cable to release the latch mechanism. I had to use a 'slim jim' from inside the back seat of the car to open the trunk. I have a new cable on order.

Thank you.

John

Answer
The cable is inside the trunk lid. You should be able to get to it without any problem. You might have to remove the lock cylinder and latch to install the new cable. I haven't replaced one in years so I dont remember exactly what you need to do but I know that it isn't complicated.
