Pontiac Repair: 95 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl, pontiac grand prix, pontiac dealer

A light on the dash came on. Light said "Started from 2nd gear", there is a button on drivers side,  near the floorboard, that says a similar thing. Pushed the button, light went off, a couple of blocks later while driving, car died. Won't restart. Has gas, all lights work, turns over but will not start. Replaced alternator about 3 months ago.

I have been working in a Pontiac dealer for years and I have never seen a "started in 2nd gear" light or a button near the floor board, so I dont know how much help I can be on this one.
On vehicles that have a button to start in second gear, it is used for driving in the snow to get better traction when starting off from a stop. The only thing that I can think of is a problem with your computer that turned on the light just before it quit working. You should probably take it in to the dealer and have it checked out.
Sorry that I cant give you any better information because like I said I have never seen that light in a Grand Prix. I could be that it was not an option availiable in this area of the country.
