Pontiac Repair: 1994 Pontiac Sunbird, 1994 pontiac sunbird, pontiac sunbird

Question
When I use my  car ( 1994, Pontiac, Sunbird, 2.0l non turbo) on really hot days it stalls everytime I stop at a set of traffic lights, I then put the car in park or nuetral and it starts and runs just fine.....but when i try to put it in drive it sputters and stalls. On cold days it is hard to start. I cannot figure this out could it be my oxygen sensor? My car does not over heat on all ocasions nor does the cold starting problem require plugging in. All fluid are fine.

Answer
If you seem to be having this problem on hot days then I would be leaning towards saying that your fuel pump may soon need replacing. A friend of mine has a similar problem and after all was said and done the pump was the source of the problem. Of course that was over a year ago and he has yet to fix it, but thats just the way he is I guess :)
The problem with the fuel pump is a common gm problem because the pump relies on the gas in the tank to keep it cool. So if your tank is less than a quarter full, your pump is slowly overheating each time you drive your car. And it's only when it really overheats that it will cause your car to stall. Something you may want to try before going to the expense of replacing the pump is to just keep your tank 50-75% full and see if your problem improves. Good luck!
