Porsche Repair: No Spark No Start, battery terminals, battery cable

Question
Help
I recently bought an 85.5 944 it started and ran with out a problem.
Then there was a draw on the battery and I had to jump start the car.
So I covered the car with the battery cable pulled off.  When I hooked
the battery back up the car ran for 10 seconds and would not start afterwards.
I found no spark @ the Coil. I also found current draw @ the battery terminals
with meter and the car turned off. I then pulled all the fuses one by one, the relays
& the DME and could not find the source of the draw. It looks like one of the mane
12v lines has a short to chasses ground. I don’t know what to do or where
to look. I have verified it’s not the alternator.  I’m hopping
you might have some ideas.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Bruce,

The answer is usually the alternator.  But since you've ruled that out, head for the starter next.  The only way to find this short is to disconnect all those big battery related cables, one at a time, till the draw is zero.  It'll be the wire you check last.
