Porsche Repair: 951 gear shift lever, discount book sellers, porsche 951

Question
I own a porsche 951(87) the current gear shift lever flops all over the place- you know Lucy/Goosey- I bought a new lever, sure doesn't look hard to replace but I cant figure it out, does anyone have a step by step procedure for this. I would assume it could be done inside the cabin of the car- or maybe I'm just hoping it can be done that way- Thanks for your help

Answer
Hi Monti,

I'm looking at the pictures you need right now.  Go to your local auto parts store and buy "Porsche 944 Automotive Rep[air Manual 1983 thru 1989 All Models including turbo"...published by Haynes.  It's the Haynes Repair manual #9U4-1027.  It'll be around $22.

If you are more patient and cheap (like me), look for it new or used
(usually in pretty good shape for something that'll get greasy anyway)
on the web at discount book sellers.  There are many discounters, but my wife's favorite right now is:

http://www.bookfinder4u.com/IsbnSearch.aspx?isbn=1850106576&mode=direct

Once you have the manual you'll find it invaluable in understanding how
the car is put together.
