Hi Tim, you certainly found a way to ask your question in the fewest number of words.  If I understand your question, it relates to the exact positioning of replacement timing and balance shaft belts on the 924/944/968's.

Rather than get into a lengthy discourse here, I've found the best information is in the "Porsche 944 Automotive Repair Manual" published by Haynes.  It's their # 1027 or 9u4-1027.  This manual doesn't specifically talk about the 968, but since the car is a cousin of the 944, this manual will give you really clear explanations of the tasks ahead of you.

$20 in your local parts store or $7-$20 on the net...at bookfinder.com and other book sites...usually the "used" manuals are quite acceptable.
