RV Repair: wireing, ac volts, dc volts

yes i just got a 1990 skyline nomad camper i set it up and put power too the camper and grounded the frame but went you are bare footed and touch any wheres on the bodie of the camper you get a real big shock can you tell me what's up with the ground or short thank's

Answer
You have a short somewhere from the power cord to the fuse box.  Or it could be any other circuit.  I suggest first looking at the powercord where it enters the RV and make sure everything to the main looks good.  No broken insulation or bare wires.  

IF all is well there, while plugged in, take a volt meter and set it to AC volts.  then put the red wire to the frame of the RV and the black to the box where you plug in.  If you see 120 voltage, you know something is touching the frame.  Turn off all circuits until the voltage reading goes away.  then when you have found the circuit that causes this, trace out the circuit wiring until you find the problem.  

If you don't see 120 volts, set the meter to DC volts.  Go to the RV battery and put the red wire on the frame and the black on the neg terminal.  If you see 12V, then the problem is with the battery circuit.
