RV Repair: Onan 4kw genset will not run, spark plug wire, stale gas

Question
QUESTION: I have an Onan 4kw genset.  I have properly gapped and installed a spark plug and air filter.  Without intervention, it will run for about 10 seconds and die.  I verified that the fuel pump pumps gas and that the spark plug wire is sparking.  Next, I fully choked the engine and cranked it - it ran only on full choke for about a minute, then died.  Any suggestions?

ANSWER: a couple of questions
1.does it died when you first let go of the switch or not
2.if you hold the switch in does it stay running
3.when was the last time it was running properly
if you can take a picture of the carb

QUESTION: I just checked on your follow-ups:

1.  It will run on full choke even when I let go of the switch.  The red light on the switch stays lit when it runs.
2.  It does stay running when I hold the switch, even when running.  Again, it only runs for any period of time on full choke.
3.  the last time it ran properly was late last summer - I was deployed to Afghanistan and unable to properly service it while gone.
Picture is attached.
