RV Repair: Slide, hitchhicker, sandilands

I have a35ft hitchhicker on the living room slide when the slide is out just on one end and just at the top I have a gap thats a little over 1" We get a nice draft.I hope this is something I can fix with your help.Thanks for your help in advance. Richard Sandilands

Richard, This could be hard for me to tell just what it is. It may be just a adjustment that you need to do and that is done usually outside where the ram connects to the slide. There should be adjustments on both ends of the slide. If you decide to try and adjust it alone just remember to make small adjustments and run in and out to check what it did. Then you will be able to see if you are adjusting it in the right direction. You will also want to make sure the facia of the slide out is attached good and hasn't slid in on that end. I guess this would depend on what year hitchhiker you have. The older ones were more troublesome than the newer ones. Make sure that where the ram attaches is also in good shape and not rotted or soft in any way. I hope this helps, Bill
