RV Repair: Electrical problem, battery isolator, winnebago brave

Question
I have a 1994 34' Winnebago Brave.  Initially every once in a while when starting the motorhome the battery would be completely dead and it would not turn over.  This time the battery was dead, we jumped it to get it started, drove 2 hours to our destination. I went to use the leveling jacks and they would not work.  The 4 times I started the motorhome it started ok.  This past weekend I went to start the motorhome and it would not start again.  I jumped it drove 2 hours to the races.  When I got there we lost all power to the water pump, lights, refrig. etc while the motorhome was running.  When the motorhome as shutdown and restarted again we got power back for a little while and then we lost it again.  Any thoughts on what the problem could be?  Any chance of getting a wiring diagram of the motorhome?  I checked the Winnebago website and the diagrams start for 1997.

Answer
David, There is no place that I know of to get a diagram for you. By restarting it you could be doing a couple of things. First check to see if you have a battery disconnect. If so check it to see that it is working correct. You may also have a solenoid under the hood that connects the battery for charging. The house battery should be separate from the automotive side. You may also have a battery isolator that is going bad, as some came out with them. The best way to find out is to run down the battery wires and make sure everything is connected good especially the ground. Then test anything that the wires hook in to and make sure you have power to both sides. I am sure that you will find out what this is and it shouldn't be too hard. Be sure to check the grounds as most troubles in 12 volt happen there. I hope this helps, Bill
