RV Repair: repairing a roof, roof material, water damage

Question
We just purchased a used 95 22' Terry camper and then realized that the roof and the front wall need to be repaired because of water damage. We really would like to try to fix it ourselves but cant find any web sites or opinions to get us started. Could you please give us some instructions on how we might approach this.

Answer
Shannon, This is a major job and one to be sure you want to dive into. By 22' I am guessing it is not a camper but a trailer. They don't make a camper that long. But you will want to remove the rails on each side that hold the roof material down, probably rubber. Once this is off you have access to the roof and you can take it off or as much as you need to and copy the new that you put back in to the old you pulled out. Now as for the walls, hopefully this has a metal sided coach and to remove the metal you want to start at the bottom and work up from there. It will take 2 people to get the metal off without bending it. Remember if you dent it or bend it this does not have a memory and you will never get it straight again. So be careful. Let me know how it is going for you and any more help you might need feel free to ask, Thanks, Bill
