RV Repair: RV roof repair, roof leaks, rv roof

Question
I have a 2000 Citation Resort with a membrane roof.  The calk around the TV antenna pulled back a bit and leaked.  There was only a small wet spot inside, but there's a considerable soft spot on the roof - about 10 sq ft.  My plan is to remove the antenna, replace the bad wood, and lay new membrane on the new wood, with a coat of liquid roof on top.
Should I overlap the new and old membrane or have a butt seam?
What kind of glue is required for the new membrane?
Should I use RV caulk around the antenna again or just use the liquid roof?

Thanks,
Pete

Answer
Peter, It looks to me like you have read a few of my answers about roof leaks. First after you replace the rotten wood and putting on the new rubber you will want to overlap. They make a black tape that goes where you have the lap. If you are unable to find any you can use spirit based glue to where the lap is at. Remember that when using this type of glue you need to let it dry until it is just tacky to the touch, and put the glue on both surfaces. The rest of the rubber roof should be put on with a water based glue you get from the manufactures of the rubber. Once you have the new rubber on go ahead and seal it with the dicor in the tube, but I want you to use it as a filler only. That means to use it sparingly. Then seal with the liquid roof and you should be good for years to come. Thanks, Bill
