RV Repair: Awing is lock in the up position, spring assemblies, spring head

My awing on my camper is in the up position and and I can't get the lever to the down position to put the awing down. Do you have any idea what could be wrong.

Ronald, It sounds to me like the cam lock has gone. The only thing I can suggest is for you to get a ladder and try turning it with pliers or something like to get it freed. If this is impossible it may be necessary to disconnect the spring head from the tube to get it to roll down. If you are unable to free it up by yourself you might want to take it in and have it done because this can be dangerous to do alone, and you can hurt yourself pretty good if not careful. They used to sell cam assembly parts but now they sell complete spring assemblies and have done away with breaking them downs in parts. I hope this helps, Bill
