RV Repair: Water Leak under Camperer, mildew mold, fiberglass insulation

Question
Hello, WE purchased a 2001 Ameri-lite camper early this spring.  We went to put water to the camper and flush the winterization stuff out when a water line broke under the camper.  This in turn has saturated the insulation under the camper causing a mildew/mold smell.  We have fixed the water line, however the insulation was soaked and did not dry causing the smelly problem.  I undserstand that I must remove the now ruined insulation, what can I re-insulate with and what about the black canvas like under pinning that i must cut to access the insulation.  Thanks for any help you can give.

Answer
Podge, The black stuff you describe is the vapor barrier and needs to be there as well. You can replace the insulation with fiberglass insulation and make sure you reseal the black plastic when you are done. The less you cut on it the better to reseal it. Thanks, Bill
