RV Repair: duo-therm rv a/c, freeze control, control boxes

Question
concerning the freeze control, is this suppose to be open or closed. doesn't it shut down the unit if it freezes up? if so then it should be normally closed right? mine is open, i'm wondering if this is why nothing works?

Answer
Richard, I have never seen a freeze control being bad and causing nothing to happen with the air. As far as open or closed it depends on the manufacture and what they decide to use. But it only affects the air during freezing up and not when just running. If you have 110 vac at the air and nothing happens make sure you have 12 volts to the T-Stat and that when you turn it on power is transferred to the right wire at the control box located usually under the ceiling grate. These control boxes have a reputation of going out. Try that and let me know what you find out. Also let me know how many wires the control box had going to it and maybe I can be more specific for you. Thanks, Bill
