RV Repair: Inverter trouble, 12 volt, 110 volts

we have a RV inverter that works at times. i have checked by process of elimanation power to and 12v out both are working. Inverter stops working after being on awhile. tried keeping it cooler it did not make any difference

Kim, Are you sure this is an inverter? This sounds to me like it is a converter. A converter turns 110 volts ac to 12 volt dc. This charges your batteries. An inverter turns 12 volt dc to 110 volts ac.If this is a converter they will do this when they get older and the only way to get around it is to replace it. I hope this helps, Bill
