RV Repair: Lift system crank problem, fleetwood, sedona

Question
The lift system on our 2004 Fleetwood Sedona is not  "grabbing" when cranked.  It just freely turns and the top does not engage.  Some one told me the "hub" might have gone bad.  Is this repair something a "do it yourselfer" can do and is it an expensive part or should we rely on the professionals?  Any other ideas of what might be wrong?  Thanks, Mickey

Mickey, It sounds like that very well could be the trouble. It might also be that the cables have come off in some way. This is really not something the everyday do it yourselfer does. If you are able to open it up enough to see the working mechanism then you might be able to see just what is going on, but this is also sometimes not that easy to do. If you know of a good shop in the area where you are then I would recommend that you take it to them if anything I have said is of no help.
