RV Repair: slideout wont retract, pace arrow vision, volt electric motor

Question
I have a 2000 Pace Arrow Vision 36Z. The bedroom power slideout goes out but won't come back in. We have already checked the switch on the wall. I have to manually crank the slide back in which of coarse is very difficult and inconvenient. Thanks in advance for your help,
Brent

Answer
Well first I need to know what drives the slide out. If it is a 12 volt electric motor then they work by reversing the power flow through to get them to run in the opposite direction. Is the switch getting power through the side needed when you activate it? If it is then there is probably a control box somewhere between the switch and motor and more than likely it has gone bad. If there is power to the switch and nothing between the switch and motor then the switch has to be bad. Try and see what drives the slide and we can go from there to repair this for you. Thanks, Bill
